Vera's background is financing and information technology. Since immigrating to Canada in 1998, Vera has lived in Hamilton with her family. She has volunteered for over 6 years with the Tele-Touch United Way Agency in Hamilton-Wentworth as a friendly caller, and at the Elizabeth Fry Society as a computer tutor in 1999. Vera has also been self-employed developing software for one of the area's hospitals.
