Fiona Mackenzie was born and raised in the capital city of Edinburgh, Scotland amongst the bloomin' heather, ancient castles, misty glens, Rabbie Burns' Auld Lang Syne, haggis, golf, the skirlin' o' the bagpipes, and the swirlin' o' the kilts.
After high school, she traveled north to Aberdeen, a wee fishing village on the east coast to attend Aberdeen University, founded in 1495, and Aberdeen College of Education where she graduated with a teaching credential in Speech and Drama. While living in Aberdeen, oil was discovered offshore in the ferocious waters of the North Sea, and an American boom town of 10,000 Texans sprang up overnight on the outskirts of town, bringing a hamburger joint and a blue jeans saloon in its wake. Property prices soared and the natives were very happy - the propertied ones - that is.
The highlights of Fiona's varied life include working on the 6th floor of the IBM Building in Paris, France for one of the European Space Agencies, devoted to launching communication satellites into orbit. She set up the blueprint library for the engineering department. In London, England, she taught English as a Foreign Language to multinational classes of students. In San Francisco, she worked as a journalist for the San Francisco Bay Guardian.
In 1977, Fiona discovered beautiful Lake County where she felt a spiritual affinity with the land. She decided to raise her two children there. In Lake County, she has worked as a substitute teacher K-12, set up a Montessori-styled pre-school, worked as a freelance journalist and editor, set up and directed the Lake County Adult Literacy Program, worked as a computer hardware and software consultant and trainer, and as an accountant.
Fiona earned her California Real Estate license in 2001, and in 2005 joined CPS Country Air Properties, the top selling real estate company in Lake County. "I like to think that I bring into the field my dedication for helping people. I find that for buyers and sellers, real estate transactions can feel quite overwhelming especially when the transaction often represents the largest investment most people will ever make in their lives. With that in mind, I derive great pleasure in assisting people with their real estate needs."
