My name is Levi Davenport. I spent a greater portion of my childhood growing up in Arvada, and then I moved to Golden where I attended Wheat Ridge High School. After high school, I attended Red Rocks Community College where I graduated with an Associates Degree in Psychology. During this time I also became a supervisor at Wal-Mart.
I then transferred to Metropolitan State College of Denver where I received my Bachelor of Arts Degree majoring in Psychology and minoring in Investment Finance. Real estate was a good portion of my studies within my minor.
At Wal-Mart, I was promoted to Department Manager over a high-shrink Class 7 department, the Garden Center. I managed a third of my respective store, and I was mentored to become a salaried member of management. I was actually offered a management position four times before I eventually decided that I wanted to go that route.
When the management opportunity came upon me the fourth time, I was more than ready. I had committed to it, and I knew that it was time to take the next step and move up. However, with the experience I had gained as a supervisor, I felt that it wouldn’t be much of a challenge for me. The day that I was supposed to begin training, we found out that the company was restructuring and eliminating some 4,500 management positions company-wide and postponing the training program indefinitely.
At that point, I reevaluated my goals and desires. I realized that management was not where my heart was at. I was far more interested in investing, especially in real estate. I also wanted to do something where I could take advantage of the skills I had obtained in Psychology and dealing with people.
I already had the educational requirements for becoming a real estate broker, and I had studied so much about real estate investment. I had also developed excellent negotiating skills from working with so many vendors and wholesalers, as well as a keen ability to understand market trends.
I decided to talk to my friend Val Bentien, who was working for Innovative Real Estate at the time. She suggested that I set up a time to speak with the owner broker Scott Nordby. I ended up interviewing with him, and I realized very quickly that he and everyone in their office had the same belief systems that I had. We were all very much into personal development, and it was obvious that this was where I belonged.
I was hired by Innovative Real Estate in September of 2006, and I passed the national and state examinations shortly thereafter. Since then I have consistently challenged myself to excel at being a Realtor® and to learn as much as I possibly can!
