Hello and thank you for taking the time out of your busy day to get to know me.
I was born and raised in Ithaca N.Y. A great little town (not so little anymore) in upstate N.Y. As a child my parents instilled in me the virtue of hard work, whether it be planting and trimming
Christmas trees with my Grandfather, bailing hay with my father, or working on the farm down the road. I was always busy.
Teamwork is also a valuable lesson I learned. I have always been interested in sports, I started playing hockey & baseball at age 6, later I played basketball, football and lacrosse. I played 3 varsity sports in high school and then some baseball in college. I feel teamwork is as important a lesson in life as hard work. You can get so much more accomplished as a team then as an individual. That is why I choose to become a part of the RE/MAX organization, with it's over 100,000 affiliates world wide.
I graduated S.U.N.Y Delhi with a degree in Hotel & Restaurant Mgnt. I was headed for F.I.U in Miami when I received an offer in a management position at Caesars Atlantic City. I spent a little over 4 yrs there, when I left I was the Food & Beverage Administrator.
While in Atlantic City I met Maggie, my bride to be and her daughter Danielle. It was time to get away from the 90 hr work weeks, settle down and start a family. We made the decision to move back to Ithaca and move on with our lives.
Back in Ithaca is where I fell in love with sales. I was looking for a new career and landed in sales, working as a salesperson at the local Ford dealership. I found my niche, I loved working with people, helping them through a very big decision making process, earning their trust and confidence. I loved everything about it.
I worked as a salesperson for two years and found much success and reward in it, but as is my nature, I wanted to grow. I was offered, and accepted, a position as the Business Manager at the Honda dealership in town. I had spent a year there when I accepted an offer from my previous employer to run his Chevrolet franchise. I found great reward in the building of a young business. Working and becoming a part of the community.
After a number of years working at the Chevrolet dealership (12) I was ready for a new adventure and challenge. Our friends Gary and Gail had left Ithaca a couple of years before for the gulf coast of Florida, working in Real Estate. Gary and I had talked often and the Real Estate profession sounded like just the challenge I was looking for. After much discussion with Maggie, family and close friends, a lot of sleepless nights and a deep breath we made the decision to move to this most beautiful place, Venice.
I have to say that the decision to leave a comfortable life, Danielle, and our Granddaughter Alyssa~Jewel (baby G) for a new career was not an easy one to make, but Florida has always been a place we wanted to be, and the gulf coast is paradise. We looked forward to meeting our new neighbors making new friends, and being a part of a new community.
After all was said and done we are glad we made the decision, we love our new friends and community, and the lifestyle that the southern gulf coast of Florida has to offer. The challenges of the Real Estate profession are ones I love and am sure the passion will last a lifetime.
