Matt graduated from the University of Georgia in 2000 and immediately delved into the real estate arena, first in Atlanta and then in Athens and the northeast Georgia area. In 2003 and 2004, he was inducted into the President's Circle, a designation for the top 10% of Coldwell Banker agents worldwide. In 2004, 'The Thomas Team' was named 'Athens Best Realtor' by the Athens Banner-Herald's Readers Choice Awards, and in 2005 and 2006, Thomas received the President's Elite designation marking sales in the top 3% of of over 100,000 Coldwell Banker agents worldwide. Since co-founding Atlas Real Estate Advisors in 2007, Matt has continued his success, achieving over 100 sales in a "down-market".

He is a founding member of Athens Leadership Society, a leadership development and philanthropic group for young professionals. He lives in Athens with his wife, Brooke, and their young daughter, Taylor.
