"Charles has lived between Glencoe and Chicago's Gold Coast his entire life. His father's family settled in Northfield, IL in the late 1800's and his mother's parents located to Glencoe in 1916 when her father was hired by the Stonehill family, their home later to be called "The Lady Esther Estate", to be their resident carpenter. In 1918, Charles' grandfather, Albert C. Hillinger, left the employ of the Stonehills and began his career as one of the leading builder's of fine homes and mansions on the North Shore. Charles' father, Ralph "Barney" Barenbrugge, joined the construction business upon his return from "World War II" and became a fixture in the community for his detailed cabinetry work.
Charles continues the family tradition of giving exemplary service in the Real Estate industry. He believes that buying and/or selling Real Estate can be such a complicated, confusing and emotional experience that it can make a world of difference to have an agent who goes that extra-mile for you.
Charles worked for 10 years in property casualty insurance (Fred J. Sauter & Co., Alexander & Alexander, Inc. & Marsh & McLennan, Inc.) and also has experience as a Mortgage Broker. "Insurance and financial knowledge always come in handy during a Real Estate sale", and he uses all the tools he has to complete sales quickly and easily, his primary reason for forming Barenbrugge Properties, LLC in 2006.
A 1970 graduate of New Trier High School and a graduate of U of IL at Chicago with a BA in Economics, a native of Glencoe and having resided in the Gold Coast for 10 years, and now, Riversedge at Sauganash since 1998, Charles is exceptionally knowledgeable about North Shore and Chicago Real Estate.
