I grew up in Calhoun, a small town in North Georgia. In 1994, my husband and I moved our family to Lakeland, Florida where we lived for two years. We moved to the beautiful Cumberland Plateau in 1996. We have enjoyed all the friendly people, fresh air, and of course the beautiful scenery for the past eleven years.
There are so many opportunities available for children and adults alike. My daughter participates in the Cumberland County Playhouse Dance Program, Tennessee 4-H Honor's and Horsemen's Club, SMHS Soccer Team, SMHS Dance Team, and Girl Scouts. Currently, I am a volunteer for all of these organizations. There are also many more opportunities for children in the area such as gymnastics, golf, tennis, softball, baseball, etc. Currently, the Crossville Soccer Complex is under construction which will include six regulation sized competition soccer fields.
Adults have the opportunity to enjoy eleven championship golf courses in Cumberland County. Centenial Park in Crossville, hosts softball and baseball tournaments with playgrounds, a horseshoe pavilion, basketball and tennis courts, and a walking trail. Four state parks are located near Crossville (Big South Fork, Cumberland Mountain, Fall Creek Falls, and Cumberland Trail). Many lakes, rivers, and creeks are also in the area.
Another form of enjoyment is the Cumberland County Playhouse. A major non-profit professional performing arts resource in rural Tennessee, and one of the 10 largest professional theaters in rural America.
