Born and raised in New Jersey, it was tough to break the binds that tie, but after 14 successful years in sales and marketing to national home center and retail chains, my wife and I opted for a lifestyle change. The travel was killing me. It was time to put the home on the market and begin a new life.
This was not the first time we had bought or sold in New Jersey so I realized I was in for another frustrating time. There were so many agencies to choose from and to whom do you trust your largest investment? It was the upturn of the market in New Jersey so we decided to do the "for sale by owner" thing! Hard work to say the least, but after much follow-up and utilizing my sales skills I made some connections with real estate agents and finally brought us a buyer (it took about 8 months and the money I thought I was going to save on a listing commission was spent to do my own advertising!) Now it was time to look in Florida.
We made contact with an agent in Florida to who I owe a debt of gratitude for his care and professionalism. It was a standard of service I had never experienced from a real estate agent. Overwhelmed with the decision where to move in Tampa, my agent convinced us to find the area first and home second. It worked like a charm. We didn't waste time and energy looking at homes in areas we didn't want to be in. We visited neighborhoods and a few homes and moved on. On our second visit we landed a beautiful golf course home at a great price!
Real Estate is not for everyone. But I was able to convey what I learned in my 14 years in sales and marketing as well as my experience with the agent who found us a home here into a very successful career which earned me Rookie of the Year.
In this business its hard to know who is trustworthy, sincere, personal and professional. I'm working to build a record that speaks for itself.
