I have always enjoyed looking at homes since I was little. When I was a teenager and moved back to Ohio from Illinois, I had a friend that was a Realtor and we would drive around the Dayton area and look at properties for the investors that he worked with.

I put all that on the back burner and raised my son. I finally bought my first "real home" in McHenry about seven years ago. My friend was a new Realtor and she loved her job. I found the condo of my dreams (truly in my dreams, since it really needed some work). We moved up here from Des Plaines/ Mt. Prospect area and roughed it for a bit!

Now with a mortgage, I needed to learn more...so I found a job working for a new bank that was coming to Illinois. I ended up specializing in consumer loans and found my niche.

I became an Investor and bought my first duplex in Crystal Lake. I finished remodeling my condo and moved onto a bank owned home in the Winding Creek Subdivision and started taking my real estate classes. My boyfriend at the time (now my husband) went through the licensing classes with me. He thought it was a great opportunity to learn more for his own investing needs. Scott went further and earned his broker license.

Scott is the Broker of our company and we move forward to helping other people find their dream homes and investors find great investment opportunities. That is how we came up with the name of our Realty Company. OPPORTUNITY KNOCKS & Assoc., REALTY PLUS

As an Illinois Realtor(R) I have earned the Graduate REALTOR Institure (GRI) disignation by attending a specific, intensive series requiring a minimum of 90 hours of classroom instruction(in addition to the pre-licensing course), covering a variety of subjects including contract law, professional standards, sales and marketing, finance and risk reduction. I have learned the fundamentals of brokeratge and other areas of real estate specialization. With this designation, I can better serve my clients.

I am a member with Realty Trac and service the areas of McHenry, Woodstock and Wonderlake.

This year I have taken a credit course for Short Sales. This has been very helpful in the market that we are in these days. This has not only helped me with my buyers, but also people that are in pre-foreclosure. Many people in this situation do not know their rights. I am very happy to help them work things out with their mortgage companies and get their lives back on track. It is great to see them so happy again.

I now have started a new course with E-Pro which will help me become more tech savy and market my clients homes over the internet which reaches many more people around town and out of state!
