JD Dakoske
Since entering the real estate profession in 1989 a measurable percentage of JD’s transactions have been working with builders on new construction projects and with the families of relocating United States Coast Guard.
Relocation is his forte. Helping a family become comfortable moving to an area they are unfamiliar with or a family transferring to another area and leaving behind their lives, here, is an art form that can only be perfected by repetition, hundreds of times in a career.
James Emory Dakoske moved to Traverse City from Grosse Pointe at the tender age of 7. When the other kids in basketball had a hard time pronouncing his last name, the kids started to call him J.D. It’s kind of stuck.
JD has a huge local family (6 brothers and sisters) most of them with their families are in the area still and have very strong community ties, including efforts to help famed Dakoske Hall, named for J.D.’s Father. Real estate is in his blood. His Father, Emory, owned Dakoske Real Estate on Eighth Street in the 70’s and 80’s and had a successful career with Dick Smith & Company Real Estate in Traverse City until his death in 1985.
JD is a ladies man. In addition to Catherine Barris, the women in his life include three gorgeous daughters, (Marissa Dakoske, 25, Elyse Boyd, 22 and Sophie Dakoske, 17) and one beautiful granddaughter Fiona who will be 4 in July.
Catherine Barris
She has spent most of her adult life in the Real Estate industry committed to providing unparalleled service to her clients. Having sold real estate in the Chicago Suburbs (5 years), Wisconsin (3 years), and Michigan (14 years), she has fulfilled the wishes of clients in a wide variety of Mid-west locations.
Analysis, communication and perseverance are Catherine’s strong suits. With close to 500 favorably closed transactions under her belt, her extensive knowledge of financing, marketing and general real estate is incomparable.
Catherine Elizabeth Barris was born is Saginaw, MI. An extended family of siblings for her includes 3 brothers, three step-brothers and three step sisters. Like JD, she was just about born into Real Estate. Her step-Father, Jack Andrews was an active and successful real estate broker with The Andrews-Miller Group in Saginaw, then Franklin Realty until his death in 1997.
In 1986, after receiving a BBA from Northwood University she moved to New York City to work in the advertising industry. Just shy of two years later she was hired away by an advertising agency for a seven year turn in Los Angeles. It wasn’t long before the Mid-west called her and it has been Real Estate ever since.
In 2004, JD and Catherine decided to join forces to offer their clients the benefit and perspective of two diverse real estate careers. It works! Ask their clients!
They provide friendly, knowledgeable and honest service and a lengthy proven history of results. There is no substitute for experience!
